I’m all for Yoga. Just not Face Yoga.
Yoga is a great way to exercise, center yourself, reduce chronic pain, and improve your health.
Certain practitioners of Face Yoga claim that making its extreme facial expressions can reduce wrinkles and help you look younger. It’s a load of hogwash.
Making lots of extreme facial expressions can strengthen the muscles of your face that create wrinkles. Hence, doing Face Yoga doesn’t make you look less wrinkled, it makes you look MORE wrinkled! In fact, Botox works the opposite way. By relaxing the muscles of your face, it reduces wrinkles and makes your face look younger.
So, yoga is great. Face Yoga is dumb.
For these reasons, Face Yoga is on my Holistic Beauty Blacklist.
