Corner Mouthlift / Grin Lift

This surgery is very simple, short, and can be done in the office. The excess skin weighing down the corners of the mouth is excised. This lets the mouth rise back up to a more normal position. However, it has one big downside: scarring. You will end up with a small scar extending upward from each corner of the mouth. If this isn’t done very well, you could end up looking a little like Jack Nicholson’s Joker character in the old Batman movie. These scars can remain visible, especially in younger people, who don’t scar as well as older people. Because of this, I rarely recommend this surgery for anyone who is younger than 55 or 60 years of age.
