miraDry

MiraDry is a cool device that uses microwave energy to permanently destroy the sweat glands of the armpits.  This is a great treatment for people who suffer from axillary hyperhidrosis, or excessive sweating of the armpits.

Do you ruin your blouses and shirts by sweating through them, even in the winter or when you’re in cold surroundings?  Prior to miraDry the only effective option was regular injections of Botox.  MiraDry can permanently destroy these overactive sweat glands after just one or two treatments.

The miraDry treatment takes about an hour and is performed after the armpit is numbed up using a local anesthetic.  Because the treatment is actively destroying sweat glands, there is usually some swelling and mild discomfort afterwards.  There is also a small risk of cellulitis, or infection of the skin.

Most patients experience an immediate improvement.  There is also a nice side effect of destroying many of the hair follicles in the armpit as well.  Call it a two-fer!
