How to Treat the Problem Areas of the Eyes!

Your eyes are the windows to your soul.⁣ They’re also the part of the face which most people complain about to me!⁣ Droopy skin, puffy lids, crow’s feet, and wrinkles – our eyes age in so many different ways.⁣

Here are some recommendations on how to treat them:

⁣Droopy skin of the upper eyelids – Upper Blepharoplasty (eyelid lift) – This small surgical procedure takes about an hour, creates a thin scar hidden in the crease of the eyelid, and can result in big changes. BONUS – if the excess skin impacts your vision then your health insurance might pay for the operation!⁣

Crow’s feet – Botox or Dysport – No question, this is the best treatment for those wrinkles that radiate from the sides of your eyes. It takes 10 minutes, costs a couple hundred bucks, and lasts an average of 3-4 months.

Undereye wrinkles – Retinol – An easy issue to treat with a great retinol product made for that sensitive area! My YOUN Beauty Retinol Eye Cream is perfect to diminish those fine lines and wrinkles!

⁣Lower eyelid bags – “Scarless” Lower Blepharoplasty – This really cool surgery removes the fat causing the puffiness and leaves no visible scar. It’s best for younger people who don’t have extra skin to remove.⁣ I perform it under a light general anesthesia, takes about an hour, and most patients look great within a week or two.

What about if you don’t want surgery? One option is to use an instant de-puffing cream, like Plexaderm. These topical serums or creams dry within minutes into a thin film which tightens the skin and reduces puffiness. Results are temporary (usually a few hours), and the film may be visible, but they do work for certain people. Check out Plexaderm HERE!

Undereye hollows – Filler – Another cause of darkness under the eyes can be due to hollows, where the volume has been lost in that area. The remedy for that issue is undergoing filler injections of Restylane or Juvederm.

I hope this helps!

Episode #263 – Stop Starving Yourself! The Hidden Secret to Weight Loss with Dr. Bindiya Gandhi – Traditional medicine: Calories in, calories out. The only way to achieve long term weight loss is by achieving a calorie deficit. So if you have unwanted pounds, you need to either eat less or exercise more. This is the conventional approach to weight loss. And it’s not necessarily true.

My guest this week is a physician who specializes in a functional medicine approach to weight loss. This approach takes in more than just the simple calories in/calories out. Our weight is much more complicated than that, and our hormones play a huge role. On this podcast we discuss why some people who have a calorie deficit don’t seem to lose weight, what medical conditions can play a role in this, and Leptin Resistance – the hidden secret to weight loss.
