Joan Kron – America’s Top Plastic Surgery Journalist

The New York Times recently published an interesting article on Joan Kron, editor-at-large for the fashion and beauty magazine Allure.  Eighty-five year old Joan has been covering plastic surgery for decades, and can be seen every year attending the national meeting for the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS).

A friend of many prominent plastic surgeons (and former friend of the late Andy Warhol), Joan has taken a no-holds-barred approach to my field.  She has called out bad surgeons, bad procedures, and exposed some of the shams that have disgraced plastic surgery over the years.  All this, while admitting to the many procedures she’s undergone herself.  She is truly considered a legend in beauty journalism, and her focus on plastic surgery is second-to-none.

I’ve had the pleasure of meeting Joan a few times at the annual meetings, and have found her to be absolutely lovely.  I’m thankful that she’s been quick to reply to my emails over the years.  She is definitely someone whom I can tell has a low bullshit meter.  She can spot a disingenous plastic surgeon coming a mile away (not me).

So if you have a few moments, check out the Times article HERE.
