Is Your Doctor on Board with the Future of Medicine?

What is the future of medicine? Is the future of medicine more medications, more invasive treatments, and Big Pharma, like many doctors and health care professionals would like you to believe? Or is it something more?

For the past couple years I’ve introduced you to physicians and health care providers who are on the cutting edge (forgive the pun) of holistic medicine. These doctors are bucking traditional, conventional medicine to improve their patients’ health by getting to the root cause of why we have disease.

Do you have hypertension because you aren’t taking your beta-blocker?

Do you have high cholesterol because you aren’t taking your statin?

Do you have premature aging and wrinkles because you aren’t applying the right night creams?

Of course not!

There is a better way to look at medicine than just treating people with more and more drugs. That is the idea behind functional medicine. Sometimes, just changing the food you eat and your environmental exposures can have profound impacts on your health and disease processes.

Take Dr. Terry Wahls, for instance. She was diagnosed with progressive Multiple Sclerosis. She was in a wheelchair and told by her physicians that her time was up and to get her affairs in order. But, after researching the foods that power the mitochondria in her brain, she radically changed her diet and reversed her disease progression. She went from being wheelchair-bound to riding her bike to work. And all of this occurred as she weaned herself off her medications. Now she is doing this for her patients. Her story is told in Episode 79 (April 4, 2018) of my podcast.

Or consider all of the cases of auto-immune disease, chronic fatigue, and irritable bowel syndrome that are being successfully treated not with medications, but by removing potential allergens from the diet, increasing the amount of nutritious foods, and focusing on the microbiome with foods like bone broth.

I strongly believe that the future of health and medicine today is functional and integrative medicine. Learning about these subjects over the past several years has changed how I practice, what I recommend, and how I live my life.

Do You Exfoliate Your Skin Regularly?

One of the keys to keeping your skin soft and youthful is regular exfoliation. When we’re young, our skin turns over every 6-8 weeks. This turnover process slows as we age, causing our skin to look and feel rougher and drier, as more and more old skin cells sit on the surface of the skin.

Regular exfoliation removes the upper layer of dead skin cells AND sends a cellular signal to the deeper skin cells to turn over more quickly. Its benefits last beyond just the immediate.

My favorite way to exfoliate is with a simple scrub, like the YOUN Beauty Advanced Exfoliating Cream. Use it two to three times per week if you have “normal” skin, once a week if your skin is sensitive.

Remember, while supplies last, we are offering a FREE Marine Complex Cleanser with every order of skin care products from our online store! This is a $38 value, and a favorite among those looking for a cleanser for all skin types.

There is no minimum order to qualify for this special offer. Offer good while stock lasts, and it’s dwindling down! Visit www.dryounonline.com for details!

Here are the latest episodes of my podcast, The Holistic Plastic Surgery Show. Please SUBSCRIBE so you don’t miss a single information-packed show!

Episode #130– What to Eat to Look Younger with Dr. Marissa Tenenbaum – What you eat determines how quickly you age.

You’ve heard me say it many times. The quality of the food on your plate has a huge impact on the quality of your skin. And now studies are showing a true gut-skin connection, where the health of one shows up in the other.

So which foods should you eat to look younger? And which foods should you avoid?

On this episode I’m joined by one of the nation’s premiere board-certified plastic surgeons who also happens to have a background in nutrition. She’s going to share with us which diet she believes is the best for slowing down aging and improving your overall health, the best and worst foods for your skin, her thoughts on dairy, gluten, and collagen supplements, and much more.

Episode #129 – How to De-Age Your Eyes with Dr. Anthony Youn – We’ve all heard that the eyes are the windows to the soul.

But it’s also the area that bothers us most when we age.

There are so many things about our eyes that can get us self-conscious – from droopy skin to wrinkles to bags. In this podcast, I tackle all of the issues we have with our eyes. I’ll go over the best eyelid creams to reduce wrinkles, dark circles, and puffiness, the best treatments for crow’s feet, which type of blepharoplasty surgery to consider, how to get a brow lift for $30, and much more.

If you’re looking in the mirror and don’t like what you’re seeing, then this podcast is for you.
