Cheek Implants

Back before fat grafting and injectable fillers were popular, many plastic surgeons used cheek implants to add volume to the cheeks.  These implants are composed of solid smooth silicone or porous substances, and are typically inserted through the mouth or an incision in the lower eyelid.

My old mentor used to tell me that cheek implants are three operations: one to put it in, one to put it back into place when it moves out of place, and a third operation to just remove it.

I’ve seen a handful of these displace and others look and feel unnatural.

With a plethora of other great options for cheek enhancement, including fat grafting, Sculptra, Voluma, and Restylane Lyft, I don’t think there is any reason to use cheek implants anymore.

For these reasons, cheek implants are on my Holistic Beauty Blacklist.
