You have questions, I have answers! Every so often I ask my Instagram followers to send me questions to answer. Let’s do it!
What Age Range is Best to Consider a Facelift?
Facelifts are operations that lift the lower face and neck, improving loose skin and jowling. This comes at the expense of permanent scars in front of and behind your ears. Rarely are patients candidates for a lower facelift until their late 40’s, early 50’s. The main exceptions are younger people who’ve lost a lot of weight.
What is the Best Treatment for Enlarged Pores?
Technically pore size is determined by genetics and cannot be changed with creams or treatments. That being said, keeping your pores clean with regular exfoliation (such as with my YOUN Beauty Advanced Exfoliating Cream) can help make pores look smaller. Pair this with fractional laser treatments, like our new CoolPeel, and you have a recipe for smoother skin and less visible pores.
What to Do For Thin Skin of the Hands Causing Bruising?
This is a tough one. Thinning of the skin is inevitable with aging due to collagen loss. It is especially pronounced in women. The first steps to fight collagen loss are to increase protein in your diet and consider taking a collagen supplement. You can find mine HERE. Second is to discuss Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) with your doctor. Studies show that estrogen decline after menopause is a main cause of collagen decline, and HRT can help mitigate it. And third, consider applying a retinol to the skin of your body. We recently launched our Retinol Body Crème specifically for this issue!
Do Non-Surgical Double Chin Treatments Work?
Yes. Kybella is an injectable treatment that is FDA-approved for reducing double chin fat. It’s made of deoxycholic acid, a naturally occuring substance in our GI tract that dissolves fat. Unfortunately, it takes multiple treatments for optimal results, can create a good amount of swelling, and is expensive.
Why Do Plastic Surgeons Never Share Fees Online?
I once spent time in a plastic surgeon’s office that altered the price of the surgery based off how much they believed you could pay. People who seemed to have more money were charged more, and people who appeared to have less were charged less. I always thought this was and is unethical. I share all my fees online and do not charge people differently unless there are extenuating circumstances (such as a more complicated surgery that will take longer than usual). Check out our prices HERE.
