👩‍🦰 Our NEW Treatment for Thinning Hair!

Over 80% of men experience thinning hair by the age of 50, and nearly 50% of women experience thinning hair in their lifetime, often after menopause. So, what can you do about it?

If you’ve followed me for a while, you know that this is an issue of mine. Here is what I’ve done about my thinning hair so far:

  1. Reduce stress. Stress is a major cause of thinning hair. Meditation, infra-red sauna (I love my Sunlighten Sauna! Check them out HERE), and yoga are some ways I reduce stress.
  2. Take Nutrafol All-in-One hair thinning supplement. I’m a big fan of Nutrafol as they have formulas for MenPre-Menopausal Women, and Post-Menopausal Women. I take it every day.
  3. Apply Minoxidil foam to my scalp every day. This is the most scientifically supported topical product for thinning hair.
  4. Wear a laser helmet several times a week. The one I wear is from iRestore.

All of these treatments have stopped my hair thinning and grown my hair back a decent amount, but I still have areas on top of my head and crown which remain thinner than I’d like. So recently I underwent injections of PRP into my scalp by the fabulous nurses at YOUN Plastic Surgery (YPS).

PRP (short for platelet rich plasma) is isolated by drawing your blood, spinning it down with a centrifuge, and removing the plasma which is chock full of platelets and growth factors. This concentrate is then injected into areas of the scalp using the tiniest needle. The treatment uses your body’s own natural growth factors to stimulate hair growth and thickening.

Studies are clear that PRP injections can increase hair density, strengthen follicles, and promote hair growth. We recommend a series of four sessions, each spaced a month apart, and then a regular “booster” treatment every 6 months.

Most people start seeing results after 3 treatments, and because the treatment uses your own natural PRP, the risks are very minimal. That being said, it does hurt a little!

Why does your body suddenly feel so different in midlife — even when your habits haven’t changed?

In this week’s podcast, I sit down with menopause expert Cynthia Thurlow, NP, to reveal a surprising culprit many women never think about: the Gut.

She explains how falling estrogen levels can disrupt the gut microbiome, leading to bloating, constipation, food sensitivities, brain fog, poor sleep, and even stubborn weight gain. One of the most eye-opening insights: the gut is in constant communication with your brain, ovaries, heart, and bones: meaning menopause symptoms may start far deeper than hormones alone.

Cynthia also shares practical advice every woman over 40 should know, including why protein needs rise during menopause, how even a nightly glass of wine may worsen sleep and inflammation, and simple lifestyle changes that can make a real difference.

If you’ve been asking yourself, Why do I suddenly feel inflamed, exhausted, or unlike myself? — this episode may provide the answers.
