Skin Cycling – Should You Do It?

Skin cycling is the newest trend in skin care. Have you heard of it?

It’s a term coined by my good friend, dermatologist Dr. Whitney Bowe. Although based on established principles, all of which I share on these blogs, skin cycling is a way to combine active treatments with rest periods in a simple formula for healthy skin.

If you’re confused about what products to apply when, or would like to try a “new” plan for skin care, then it’s a great option to try. It’s based on a four day cycle, where you exfoliate on day 1, use retinol on day 2, and recover days 3 and 4. Then you repeat the cycle.

Here it is in more detail:

Day 1 (Exfoliation Night):

AM: Cleanse, Antioxidant Serum, Sunscreen

PM: Cleanse, Exfoliate, Moisturize

Day 2 (Retinol Night):

AM: Cleanse, Antioxidant Serum, Sunscreen

PM: Cleanse, Retinol, Additional Moisturizer as desired.

Day 3 and 4 (Recovery Nights):

AM: Cleanse, Antioxidant Serum, Sunscreen

PM: Cleanse, Moisturize
