⏳ Why Korean Women Age More Slowly…

If you’ve ever wondered why so many Korean women seem to have glowing, youthful skin, it’s not because they have access to some secret ingredient that we don’t.

The real secret is surprisingly simple: they approach skincare differently.

Rather than searching for a miracle product, Korean skincare focuses on building daily habits that protect and nourish your skin over time.

Here are four tips that help Korean women get such youthful skin:

1. Double cleansing really does make a difference.

One of the most important habits is washing your face twice at the end of the day. The first cleanse uses an oil cleanser (like YOUN Beauty Makeup Removing Cleansing Oil) to dissolve sunscreen, makeup, and excess oil. The second uses a gentle water-based cleanser (like YOUN Beauty Green Tea Cleanser) to remove sweat and any remaining debris.

If you’ve always thought, “I have oily skin—I shouldn’t put oil on my face,” think again. Oil actually dissolves oil extremely well. When done properly, double cleansing leaves your skin cleaner without stripping away its natural moisture barrier.

2. Hydration is the secret to “glass skin.”

That smooth, luminous complexion known as glass skin isn’t created by one miracle cream.

Instead, it’s the result of layering lightweight hydrating products to gradually flood the skin with moisture. Hydrated skin appears plumper, smoother, and more radiant because fine lines become less noticeable and light reflects more evenly off the skin.

Sometimes the healthiest-looking skin simply needs more hydration—not stronger products.

3. Sun protection is a daily lifestyle—not an occasional step.

One of the biggest differences between Korean and American skincare isn’t found in a bottle.

It’s consistency.

Sun protection is treated as a daily habit, regardless of the weather. Many Korean women go out of their way to avoid direct sun, wear hats or visors, seek shade whenever possible, and apply sunscreen every single day.

As a plastic surgeon, I couldn’t agree more. Preventing UV damage is far easier than trying to erase wrinkles, brown spots, and collagen loss later.

The problem is that US based sunscreens are much heavier-feeling than Korean sunscreens, making them much less appealing to wear each day. With the recent FDA approval of a new sunscreen filter, hopefully this will change very soon.

4. Use your oil cleanser the right way.

If you’re going to add an oil cleanser to your routine, technique matters.

Start with dry hands and a dry face. Massage the oil cleanser into your skin for about 30 seconds to dissolve makeup, sunscreen, and excess oil. Then add a small amount of water. A properly formulated oil cleanser will emulsify into a milky consistency before you rinse it away. Only after that should you follow with your gentle water-based cleanser.

One important tip: don’t substitute olive oil or another cooking oil. True oil cleansers are specially formulated to rinse cleanly from the skin, like YOUN Beauty Makeup Removing Cleansing Oil. Household oils aren’t, and they can leave behind a residue that may clog pores.

The biggest lesson Korean women can give you?

Great skin isn’t about chasing every new trend. It’s about creating simple, consistent habits that you can follow every day.
