🌞 The Ultimate Morning Skin Care Routine

“If you could recommend the perfect morning skin care routine, what would it be?” Well, here’s my answer!

Step 1: Cleanse with a gentle cleanser appropriate for your skin type

— If you have oily skin, consider a foaming cleanser. If you have dry skin, consider a more milky or hydrating cleanser. For all skin types, go with a gentle cleanser. YB Green Tea Cleanser

Step 2: Tone (optional)

— Not everyone needs to tone, but if you like this step, opt for an alcohol-free toner that can help set the stage for your next products. YB Green Tea Toner

Step 3: Combo Vitamin C and E Serum

— Studies show the antioxidant vitamins C and E are synergistic when used together. Applying an antioxidant serum every morning helps protect your skin from oxidation and free radical DNA damage throughout the day. YB CE Antoxidant Serum

Step 4: Antioxidant and Peptide Eye Cream

— Don’t forget your eyelids! Applying creams with peptides and antioxidants are great to prevent premature aging of the eyes.

Step 5: Exosome serum (optional)

— Exosomes are the absolute latest in skin care and have a ton of untapped potential for what they can do. Unfortunately, they are very expensive. If you’d like to try one, contact our office at (248) 273-7700 to get information on Plated Exosomes, the only exosome serums that I recommend.

Step 6: Additional serums (optional)

— Do you want more moisture? Or maybe you’d like to support your skin’s microbiome to reduce irritation and redness? Look for serums that contain hyaluronic acid, ceramides, probiotics, and more to soothe your skin and improve its overall health. YB Hyaluronic + Probiotic Serum

Step 7: Skin Brightening Moisturizer (if needed)

— If you have spots you want to get rid of, then apply a brightening cream containing kojic acid, licorice root extract, or other skin brightening goodies! YB Brightening Cream

Step 8: Moisturizer with active ingredients

— Yes, there are moisturizers out there that do nothing other than moisturize. Instead of wasting your money on them, I recommend using a moisturizer that contains active ingredients like antioxidants, peptides, and/or growth factors. YB Calming Antioxidant Moisturizer

Step 9: Sunscreen (at least spf 30)

— If you have melasma, then spf 50 would be better to help prevent your melasma from getting worse. Otherwise, for most everyone else spf 30 is good! La Roche Posay Anthelios spf 60 Light Facial Sunscreen

Yes, that’s a lot of steps! And no, you don’t need to do all these steps if you want to have a good, healthy skin care routine. But if you want to do the absolute maximum for your skin to stave off the various signs of aging, then these steps are what I recommend every morning.

So, what about the perfect night-time skin care routine? I cover that, and go into a lot more detail on the morning steps, on my latest podcast Stop Wasting Money! The Ultimate Skin Care Routine.
