There are simple anti-aging tricks of the trade that I’ve learned over the years which can make a big difference. Here are a few that just might change your life!
Try a Retinol Sandwich.
If you have sensitive skin that can’t tolerate retinol, or you find retinol to be occasionally irritating to your skin, one simple way to soothe its effects is to apply a gentle moisturizer first (like my YOUN Beauty Calming Antioxidant Moisturizer), followed by Retinol, and then the gentle moisturizer on top of it. This “Retinol Sandwich” allows the retinol to affect your skin more gradually and create less irritation.
Improve Minoxidil with Scalp Stamping.
If you’re using a topical on your scalp to improve thinning hair (I recommend Minoxidil foam as the most effective option), then gentle microneedling with a scalp stamper prior to applying it can get better penetration of the topical and potentially quicker results. I use the stamper from Banish which has replaceable sterile heads, but there are other good brands out there, too.
Underbrow Tweezing for an Instant Brow Lift.
Instead of a surgical browlift, a simple way to make your brows look elevated is to carefully tweeze or pluck the eyebrow hair from the undersurface of your brows. This will increase the distance between your eye and your eyebrow, resulting in an elevated look, similar to an actual browlift. Warning: This only works if you have fairly thick, 1980’s type brows. If your brows are 2000’s pencil thin, then it’s a no-go for you.
Improve Crepey Skin on Your Body with a Retinol Body Cream.
Retinol is the gold standard for anti-aging creams, so why do most of us only apply it to our faces? When used in a lower concentration and combined with powerful moisturizers, retinol can improve the appearance of fine lines and crepey skin of the arms, legs, chest, and the whole body. I created my YOUN Beauty Retinol Body Crème for this exact reason. Get it HERE. Just don’t apply it to your privates. Seriously.
