Everyone Online Is Talking About This New Technique…

It’s become all the rage on social media: Preservé Breast Augmentation. I learned this new, less invasive technique many months ago in Costa Rica, and it’s now come to the US in full force.

During Preservé, the plastic surgeon makes a small incision and then inflates a special balloon to create a pocket for placement of the implant. The idea is that the surrounding ligaments of the breast are preserved, creating less disruption to the natural anatomy and essentially “nesting” the implant in the breast.

This creates less discomfort and a quicker recovery. Some plastic surgeons are even performing the operation under just a local anesthetic!

There are a few drawbacks of the surgery, though. First, it only works with small implants, usually less than about 250-275 cc. So if you want a big change in your chest size, then Preservé is not for you. Second, the implants can only be placed above the muscle, not below. Since the pocket creation doesn’t involve cutting, placing the implant below the muscle isn’t an option.

There is a lot more to Preservé than I can cover in a short email. If you’d like to consult with me on whether Preservé is right for you, please call my office at (248) 273-7700.

I also discuss Preservé in my Hot Topics in Cosmetic Medicine podcast episode this week! I’m joined by plastic surgeon Dr. Maristella Evangelista to also cover…

  • Mold in saline implants
  • Neck tightening treatments
  • Sara Foster’s plastic surgery warning
  • And more!
