5 Days To a More Youthful You?

Anti-aging experts are in agreement that one of the most powerful things you can do to increase your longevity is to fast. Giving your body a break from eating can increase the process of autophagy, or intra-cellular renewal. This can essentially clean out your cells of intracellular waste products, allowing them to function more effectively.

Unfortunately, fasting is HARD!

I’ve been intermittent fasting now for many years, and find it’s a great way to improve my health. However, I recently took fasting to the next level by completing a five day course of the Prolon Fasting Mimicking Diet for the second time.

The Prolon Fasting Mimicking Diet is a five day limited calorie diet with specially chosen foods which “trick” your body into thinking that you’re fasting. It was developed by Dr. Valter Longo, the Director of the Longevity Institute at the University of Southern California. During the Fasting Mimicking Diet, you eat three small meals each day (including soups, protein bars, olives, and crackers) and drink water, tea, or coffee. On the first day, you eat 1100 calories, then drop down to 750-800 calories on days 2-5.

By the end of the 5 day course, your body is geared up to create stem cells, you’ve lost several pounds, and the process of autophagy is in full swing. People have a renewed sense of energy, clearer skin, a potentially reset microbiome, and a realization that they may not need to eat as much food as they previously thought.

I recently posted a video to my Youn Plastic Surgery YouTube Channel about my experience with the Prolon Fasting Mimicking Diet. You can check it out by clicking HERE!
