The other day I was a guest on Good Morning America, where we discussed whether certain viral social media beauty trends were truly legit. Let’s spill the tea, shall we?

Hemorrhoid Cream for Lower Eyelids – CLAIM: Hemorrhoid cream can reduce puffiness under the eyes and tighten skin. TRUTH: This is an old Hollywood red carpet trick, and it can kinda work. Hemorrhoid cream contains vasoconstrictors which can reduce blood supply to the area it’s applied, resulting in some mild reduction in swelling. That’s how it shrinks hemorrhoids, which are varicose veins down there. However, it’s not made for the sensitive skin of the lower eyelids. Instead, use a real eye cream, ideally with a retinol like our YOUN Beauty Retinol Eye Cream. For instant but temporary tightening, choose one with caffeine as well.
Tape to Smooth Forehead Wrinkles – CLAIM: A viral video claimed that applying tape to your forehead for 7 days can reduce the wrinkles. TRUTH: If that was the case, then why bother with Botox? Applying tape over your forehead will not smooth wrinkles. What is CAN do, however, is help train you not to scrunch your forehead. Forehead wrinkles are dynamic wrinkles, since they are caused by muscles actively flexing. If you can train your muscles not to flex (and tape can remind you not to do it), then it’s possible your forehead can look smoother.
